LA legislature passed a law requiring every CMO to establish a Special Education Advisory Council to provide "advice and give feedback regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources." These Councils are required to meet 3 times per year and be made up of 25% staff, 50% parents, 25% community members.
This is not a forum to discuss specific special education cases or to audit compliance. Instead it is essentially for providing input on how to continually improve the supports our schools offer.
