Our Mentors

We are so grateful to our mentors for sharing their time and talents with our young people.

Here are just a few of their stories:
Superintendent Henderson Lewis
Student Advisory Committee - DesMonique Farris was selected alongside 30 other students to serve on the Superintendent Student Advisory Committee. DesMonique assisted in creating a survey about student's recommendations for a healthy school environment. Over 200 students in Orleans Parish completed the survey. DesMonique and the students of the council, presented the recommendations to the school board during their May 2018 meeting. The picture is from the board meeting.
Baderinwa Rolland
Chakra Dance Theater - Shavonte Thomas first started her internship with Chakra Dance Theater in January 2018. Chakra Dance Theater is rooted in the history of the African Diaspora with an emphasis on Haitian dance and folklore. Shavonte stated "Chakra does not seem like an internship to me anymore, it's more like family." The picture is from a fundraiser performance held by Chakra.
Stephanie Bruno
Good Samaritan Nursing Home-Tyriandree Jones and Briana Landry are both placed at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. They work with residents to keep them active and engaged in the activities department. The students enjoy playing bingo with the residents, painting their nails, and also simply being a listening ear. The picture is from a visit to Dress for Success, which provided the students with complimentary scrubs. Dress for Success work with women to empower them in job readiness skills, employment, and attire.
