my name is Charlie Ruth and the net Central City in my life New Orleans and I landed at the net because the net spoke to my heart about their vision and their mission and what they really wanted to do in the city with transforming lives of young people so I like working at the National City because this is like the first time I got to actually work with kids that you know schools quote unquote get rid of or push to the side I can't see myself working anywhere else uh this is a perfect place to be at for me my experience at the net was amazing when I first started off I was being National line and combat of doing it just taught me how to be mature and grow up we don't hold grudges against students so they can have their days when they have a blow up and they know that you call the next day we know that we can start all over again the network very supportive to my children to me and my children they pushed them and it was like a community back in the day when it was a village and it's not just academics it's not just about culture it's about making your students are restorative what do you bring to the community how can you make amends with others that you've harmed or how can you fix and correct your mistakes because we all make mistakes the students at the next Central City aren't as bad as everybody try to make a team we really care about each other and we're more involved and like interact with each other at school like a family I'm very proud of what did and did with my son his future was going in different the path but when he got here something about the curriculum and the Sparks I seen in him the filming program and different things they laid out on the table he jumped in like he was jumping in a swimming pool we have exhibitions which are um something that I've never ever witnessed before where a student comes in a class and they learn 2 different subjects so let's say for instance Miss Iran teaches world history and infuses that with Fine Arts in English the students learn learn about past music and how that music helped people have a voice with protests and then they take all that knowledge and then they make their own protest song the next Central City allowed these students to be themselves it also have vital resources before they even graduate for example we have a summer program where some students never thought about swimming so they had the opportunity to to swim and a lot of students thought that they wouldn't be able to learn how to swim we have so many many different Partnerships that help our students to figure out what they want to do what what fuels their passion and then we go from there we also have opportunities for students through wraparound Services when it comes to that social work element that they may need to become better individuals inside and out we got you
